I will begin by controlling my thoughts.

PreSales Videos

In affiliate
marketing, Videos are HOT these days, but they’re much
tougher to produce than writing a few paragraphs of copy.

I was Wrong.
It was a HORRIBLE business model because there was very little of it I
could hire out to others to do for me.

I spent ALL of my time
making those films, which
leaves very little time to monetize them, and even less time to PROMOTE
them, which is of course the most vital part of an internet
marketer’s
job.

For Every film I made, I had to:

Write the whole Script

Create all the graphics

Record my Voice-overs in Audacity

Put it all together and adjust timing in
Camtasia

Add Effects

Edit & tweak

Save & render to flash

Export to desktop

Upload to Server

Integrate with Wordpress to display on the page

Test, adjust, test, publish etc…

It was a nightmare! I CERTAINLY wasn’t making my
time’s worth back for
all that work. Even with the most lucrative affiliate program on Earth,
I still wouldn’t have broken even, considering my lack of
time to
promote it!

All the while, I know that
video converts better
than anything else on the web, especially when it properly pre-sells
the viewers before they hit a landing page. I’ve seen Oodles
of
statistics showing that such pre-selling with video can raise a 2%
conversion rate to above 10%!

Still, I’m just
too lazy to do all that video
production myself, no matter how good the conversion rate becomes.
I’m
not the first to feel like this, either. The guys behind PreSale Videos

In case you

Marketing. (IM2IM) If you have a way to drive such traffic to your
offer page they give you (and that includes free safelists and
listbuilding services!) then you’ll be making money, period.

The Proof is in the pudding…

Well, I’m not
exactly sure what that means exactly,
but at any rate I couldn’t resist trying out a video for a
week just to
find out what kind of conversion rates I would get.

I used three FREE traffic resources, and sent out several messages
until I got 200 clickthrus, which took
less than a week. (One mailing a day to each times 5 days should be
enough for anyone with any writing skills, but it only took me three.)

If you know anything about
free list-builder
services then you know that their traditional conversion rate is VERY
LOW. Usually less than 1/2 of 1% ever buy anything… In fact,
they are
not much better than safelists at all in their conversion rates.

Out of the 200 that landed
on the page Todd and
Derrick hosted there, SIXTY EIGHT people clicked through to the
product’s sales page, (that’s a 34%
pre-conversion!) and ultimately 8 of them
purchased!

Yes, Eight out of 200
overall is only a 4%
conversion ratio, however, consider the source of the traffic! If I had
just written some better-than average sales copy and sent it out to
those same list builders, I’d only expect at most just ONE
sale… So
this effectively multiplied my conversion rates TIMES EIGHT!

(Not to mention, they did all the hard work for me.)

So the bottom line on
PreSale Videos is that you
still need to drive some traffic, but they’re easy to use,
and they
simply WORK. I have no reservation in thinking that each of you can
make some great money using this system, ongoing forever!

I was fired from my day job yesterday and live to tell about it!

Yesterday I went to work as usual only to be escorted to HR and then out the door! It came as a total shock, but I lived to tell about it!

Napoleon Hill devoted an entire chapter in Think and Grow Rich to persistence. In that chapter he said, "there may be no heroic connotation to the word persistence, but the character is to the quality of man what carbon is to steel." Hill also pointed out in another part of the same chapter, that the only thing which separated Thomas Edison or Henry Ford from the rest of the people in the world was persistence. For both of these great men had an image and they would not let anyone or anything dissuade them - they were persistent. One illuminated the world; the other put the world on wheels. Both were, of course, richly rewarded.

No Regrets

No Regrets

At the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, the sport of canoe racing was added to the list of international competitions. The favorite team in the four-man canoe race was the United States team. One member of that team was a young man by the name of Bill Havens.

As the time for the Olympics neared, it became clear that Bill's wife would give birth to their first child about the time that the U.S. team would be competing in the Paris games. In 1924 there were no jet airliners from Paris to the United States, only slow ocean going ships. And so Bill found himself in a dilemma. Should he go to Paris and risk not being at his wife's side when their baby was born? Or should he withdraw from the team and remain with his family?

Bill's wife insisted that he go to Paris. After all, competing in the Olympics was the culmination of a life long dream. But Bill felt conflicted and, after much soul searching, decided to withdraw from the competition and remain home, where he could support his wife when the child arrived. He considered being at her side his highest priority, even higher than going to Paris to fulfill his dream.

As it turned out, the United States four-man canoe team won the gold medal in Paris. And Bill's wife was late in giving birth to their child. She was so late, in fact, that Bill could have competed in the event and returned home in time to be with her when she gave birth.

People said, "What a shame." But Bill said he had no regrets. For the rest of his life, he believed he had made the better decision.

Bill Havens knew what was most important to him. Not everybody figures that out. And he acted on what he believed was best. Not everybody has the strength of character to say no to something he or she truly wants in order to say yes to something that truly matters. But for Bill, it was the only way to peace; the only way to no regrets.

There is an interesting sequel to the story of Bill Havens...

The child eventually born to Bill and his wife was a boy, whom they named Frank. Twenty eight years later, in 1952, Bill received a cablegram from Frank. It was sent from Helsinki, Finland, where the 1952 Olympics were being held. The cablegram read: "Dad, I won. I'm bringing home the gold medal you lost while waiting for me to be born."

Frank Havens had just won the gold medal for the United States in the canoe racing event, a medal his father had dreamed of winning but never did. Like I said, no regrets.

Thomas Kinkade eloquently said, "When we learn to say a deep, passionate yes to the things that really matter, then peace begins to settle onto our lives like golden sunlight sifting to a forest floor."

FREEDOM

I heard this on a John DiLemme CD I was listening to on the way home from work and just had to share it:

FREEDOM (author unknown)

In the United States of America lies a large industrial city which is the site of one of the world's largest slave labor camps.

Located in and around the center of this city are community settlements where the slaves live.

Each morning the slaves move herd-like from their quarters into the slave labor camps.

Each one is at his or her station by 7:30 AM. Here they report to their master for the day's duties. And here they remain chained until 5:00 PM when they're released to go home.

The slaves have no choice as to how many hours they must labor. Sometimes they are required to work overtime until their master tells them they may leave and go home.

Each year the slaves are told when to take their vacations, for how long, and when they must return.

They have little choice as to how much money they earn as they are paid not what they are worth, but what the job is worth.

They are allowed very little time for lunch and coffee breaks during the labor hours.

The slaves will remain in their chains in great fear because the master can punish them with the "firing" or "layoff" whip.

It is said that even some of the older slaves who have been good and faithful have felt the sting of the whip.

Day by day, year-by-year, the slaves toil and grow older until the master decides it is time to release them to the retirement camps where they're forced to sit idle and wait for death.

It's a well-known fact that the old slaves who try to keep working are sometimes whipped with a "stop-their-pension" whip.

I know these slave camps exist for I once was a slave.

But now I am a free man who lives among the slaves.

The reason I am free is because I am in business for myself as a Network Marketer.

Yes, I am truly free. I arise in the morning at the hour called for by my schedule.

I decide my own hours. I can even sleep in late while the slaves are at work.

I can vacation when, where, and for how long I please.

I'm free to take my coffee break and lunch when I decide.

And of course, I can decide my own paycheck because I am not a slave.

I can choose to work when and where I please and with whom I please.

I'm free to stay in the city for as long as I want, or to move on to greener pastures if I decide to.

I've seen many slaves sadly pack their belongings to leave their city in search of a new master, but it is always the same.

There is, however, a ray of hope for the slave.

He or she can buy their own freedom.

The cost is not high, yet it seems high to those who do not have the courage to pay the price.

What is the price?

ONE MUST BE WILLING TO BE ONE’S OWN MASTER!

Because I Was Told I Can

Because I Was Told I Can

About 6 months ago, I joined a gym. Every morning, there is one personal trainer there that works out at the same time that my little group does our workout. He does his "routine" with such a quiet determination that he makes it all look very easy; although I know all too well how hard he is working. When I am tempted to whine and quit, I watch him push himself to his own limits, and I find myself motivated to work as hard and without complaint.

A couple of weeks ago, I was watching him do chin ups. He made them look effortless. I broke away from my group and asked him if I could try a chin up. I had never tried before, but he just made it look so easy. He eagerly stepped aside and encouraged me to step up to the bar. I pulled myself up without thinking...once...then twice. That was all I had in me, I had no strength left. I told him that was all I had, so he stepped up behind me and pushed me up for a third and fourth "pull." It felt so good. I felt strong and I smiled from ear to ear.

The next day when I was done my workout, I asked him to spot me again. Again, I did two. Again on day three and so on. I thought it was pathetic that I could only do two, but when I came to the gym at the end of the week, he was standing there just shaking his head. When I asked him what was up, he said he was impressed with my chin ups. He told me that when they are training firefighters, the men are required to do 5 chin ups, and women are required to do 1 or 2. He explained that most people can't do them at all, and that he was impressed that I could. He further told me that if I practiced every day, I would be doing 5 or 6 in no time. At this point I should probably add that I am 50 years old...and female.

The moral of this story...because I didn't know any better, because he told me I could, I saw no reason to doubt. I just jumped in and gave it a try - and I did it! I didn't see it as a great accomplishment, because I didn't realize that it was difficult and it became my goal to get stronger. No one told me I couldn't do it, in fact, I was encouraged to try. Had he told me initially how difficult it was, I more than likely would not have tried at all. Or I might have tried, but given it only half an effort, because failure would have been the expectation. I applaud him for letting me believe that for me, it was not only a possibility, but that success was a realistic expectation.

How many times have we decided not to try at all because we were told that we couldn't, that we shouldn't, that we had expectations that were too ambitious? How many times have we told our children, our friends and our co-workers that they couldn't do something; that their ideas were impossible or beyond reach? How many times have we told ourselves that we would fail before we even started?

I started to ponder examples that I had witnessed and this came to mind...I recalled a conversation a friend of mine had with his daughter just prior to her heading off to university. He spoke to her (with good intentions) of how hard she would have to work in order to succeed. University wasn't like High School - this was the real world and now she would have to grow up. This child quit after two years. Another friend spoke to her daughter of the adventure she was embarking on and how proud she was. I remember how we laughed because the mother already had her outfit picked out for convocation day! This child just graduated with her degree in physiology. Looking back, neither daughter was more intelligent than the other. Was it the silent expectations (or lack thereof) that predicted the outcome?

I have a new approach now. I have experienced first hand how good it feels to rush in so innocently. To believe that we CAN do it and go on to accomplish exactly what we set out to do, because no one told us we couldn't. I've learned how important it is to support others (and ourselves) in our endeavors and to let them know that we believe they can do it rather than telling them we think that they can't.

I personally want to be like my trainer; standing there behind the people that I love, encouraging them, believing in them and being ready to catch them when they get tired. I will be the one that is there on the second and third day making sure they try again, because I know they CAN.

What a powerful lesson this has been for me. I'll be doing "5" in no time at all. Because I was told I CAN.

I was listening to a CD in the car on my way to work today by T. Harv Eker as he interviewed Bill Bartman.

One question Harv asked him was if he could pass on one word of wisdom to his kids or grandkids when on his death bed, what would it be.

He responded that he would pass on his definition of SUCCESS that he learned from Lou Holt:

Got this in my email from Bob Proctor that I thought I would share:

Real Winners

Nobody loves motivational quotes more than I do. But be very careful because every once in a while you'll find a quote that might sound good but isn't true. And if you believe that quote, it might actually do some harm.

Let me tell you a story...

It was the most important Little League game of Eric's life. He was 11 years old and his team, the Pirates, were playing the Giants in the championship game.

It was the bottom of the sixth inning and the Pirates were ahead 2-1. But the Giants had the bases loaded with two outs and their best hitter was at bat.

He hit an easy fly ball to Bobby, the Pirate's right fielder. Bobby circled under the ball as everyone held their breath. The ball fell into his glove and then bounced out. Bobby scrambled for the ball, but by the time he decided where to throw it, two Giants had scored.

Final score:
Giants 3
Pirates 2

It would be "wait until next year" for the Pirates.

As the Pirates moped off the field, something totally unexpected happened. Their manager started yelling and screaming at Bobby. "You lost the game for us. You cost us the championship!"

Crying, Bobby ran off the field and vanished into the woods.

After the game, Eric went to meet his parents in the parking lot, but his dad wasn't there. His mom said he had something to do. On the drive home, a dejected Eric saw something that startled him.

Way in the distance, Eric saw his dad walking Bobby home. His dad had his arm around the kid who probably felt like he didn't have a friend in the world.

Eric never forgot the kindness his dad showed that evening.

As the years passed, whenever Bobby saw Eric's dad, he always greeted him warmly and enthusiastically because he never forgot, either.

So whenever I hear stories like this one, I think of this quote:

"Winning is not the only thing, it's everything."

This quote makes my blood boil because the manager in the story actually believed it. He believed that winning a Little League game was "everything" and that the feelings of a fragile 11 year old boy were "nothing."

The truth of the matter is that winning is not the only thing. Winning is not everything.

Real winners don't necessarily hit home runs or make spectacular catches. Real winners know how to be kind. Eric's dad was a winner.

Here's a quote that is true and will make you a winner if you believe it:

"Winning is not the only thing, but kindness is everything."

Funny thing about habits. Bad ones just happen while good ones are usually the result of considerable effort.

Habits are what personal character is made of, and basically they come in just two varieties: good and bad.

Some people act as if their habits were as predetermined as their blood type and are about as likely to ever change. But there are a select few who live by the truth: It is possible to learn good habits and unlearn bad ones, no matter how ingrained they are. It's all a matter of choice.

The secret of learning good habits or breaking bad ones is in choosing to repeat—or refrain from doing—something over and over and over again until it becomes a natural response, a habit.

Want to become more financially responsible? Here are the habits of those who are. Consciously focus on these actions, then repeat them over and over until they become natural responses.

Habit 1: Financially responsible people regularly balance their checkbooks. They calculate a current balance after every transaction and always know the exact state of their money.

Habit 2: Financially responsible people think first and spend later. Thinking means weighing needs and acknowledging wants. It means exercising discipline and delaying gratification—saving the money first and then buying the item.

Habit 3: Financially responsible people save money consistently. They never spend all they have because they are habitual savers. They see saving as a long-term process and make the sacrifices necessary to reach their goals. They are patient, steady, consistent and find saving money to be a necessity.

Habit 4: Financially responsible people fund their own emergencies. They don't buy into the notion that the purpose of credit cards is to pay for unexpected emergencies. Financially responsible people realize that life happens, and so they maintain significant emergency funds. Just in case.

Habit 5: Financially responsible people know their financial condition precisely. These folks usually know within a few bucks the current balance on their mortgage or other secured loans. They regularly update their net worth, which is the difference between the value of their assets and their liabilities. They make each financial move in light of the effect it will have on their net worth.

Habit 6: Financially responsible people refuse to live under the fantasy of entitlement. While others feel entitled to run up huge credit-card debt simply because they have an approved limit and uncontrollable desires, financially responsible people don't approach life with this feeling of entitlement. They are not driven to keep up with their neighbors at any cost. They are content to live within the limitations of their income.

Becoming financially responsible is a process. I sabotaged myself for many years, convinced that I could never change. But I was wrong. I have changed and continue to make new progress every single day.

It all starts with a single step: A decision to become financially responsible. And then it's just one step at a time—again and again. One good habit after another. EC

When fever strikes!

Wow, what a weekend!

My daughter Marissa gave us a quite a scare Saturday night. We were in bed watching the Chronicles of Narnia and she complained that she was cold. Then hot. Then cold. She shivered even though she didn't feel cold at all. We took her temperature and found it to be 105 degrees in BOTH ears, so we hi-tailed it for the E/R. She mentioned that she had a sore spot on her toe, so they looked at that as well and had to lance what looked like a blister. They gave her high-dose antibiotics and admitted her 0vernight, transferring her to Children's hospital in downtown Saint Louis.

She did very well today and we were finally able to take her home around dinner time today. Needless to say I have not slept a wink since Saturday! But at least she is doing well.

If you're the praying type, we'd appreciate your prayers.

There once was a man who hired a programmer to do some coding for him. The coder did a horrible job, but the man did not realize it until tons of complaints from his customers. Rather than blame the coder, he apologized to his customers and took the full blame for HIRING the bad programmer. He replaced the programmer, had the software bugs fixed, and everyone was happy.

Notice the difference? The RICH admit their mistakes and take personal responsibility for their business. Not so the poor - they would rather blame someone else.

I had my PC almost back to normal and ready to start making calls again when a freak ice storm hit the Saint Louis, MO area yesterday, knocking our power and heat out for the next 3-4+ days! Sometimes a computer crash can be a GOOD thing!

Last Thursday my PC totally crashed. Fortunately, I was able to recover the data, but Windows, Office and all related software all had to be reloaded over the weekend and on Monday.

So why is that a good thing?

Because I am a PC-aholic! When my PC is working, I most of my free time working on it to the detriment of other things.

Since it was down, I was able to get other things done like:

Play games with my family (we played Boggle this weekend)
Play "king of the bed" with my 4 year old Ross and 8 year old Marissa
Read books
Watch movies together (We watched Over The Hedge this weekend)

POINT: Make sure that while you run your home-based business that you leave time for your family and for having fun!

1. Take one or several walks.

Find a safe, relatively quiet place to walk - preferably a place that is beautiful. Walk slowly. Breathe deeply. Clear your mind. Notice everything around you - the feel of the ground you are walking upon, the quality of the air you are breathing, the sights and sounds that surround you.

Recognize that one day - sooner than you want - your life will end. You will not be around to breathe the clean air, to feel the sun on your skin, and to see the things you find beautiful. You will not be around to hear your children's voices, to feel your lover's touch, to enjoy the thrill of learning something new or feeling passion.

Dwell on the fact that after you are gone, after your ego is extinguished, all those things that you love now will not exist for you any more. But they will exist for those who survive you.

Realize that, in the scope of the universe, you are a temporary bundle of self-absorbed energy that is infinitesimally temporary and virtually meaningless - except to yourself.

With all of that in mind, take full responsibility for your future happiness and success.

2. Make a list of all the people you should be thankful for.

Start with the obvious ones - your parents, your teachers, your mentors, your colleagues, and other people who have helped you. Then include the people who have helped you by letting you love them - your children, your siblings, your friends, your students, your proteges. And then list the people who have helped you by trying to hurt you - your professional and personal enemies.

When the list is done, make a commitment to send a quick, handwritten note to each one of those people, one person a day. Just tell them that you were thinking of them and you want to thank them for the specific gift they gave you. Make it short and sweet.

This exercise will benefit you immediately and continue to benefit you for a long time. The benefits will be both expected (you will renew good relationships) and unexpected (you will have a stronger, braver, and happier heart).

3. Make yourself a promise that you will spend a few moments every day counting your blessings.

One effective way of doing that is to list your current blessings - specific things you can be grateful about - in your daily journal. (I hope you are keeping a journal. If not, start one today. If you do, you will be grateful that you did.)

I got to eat a turkey sandwich.

I got to spend a half-hour with Number Three Son.

I learned something new about blogging ... and so on.

4. To repay the many blessings you have received, promise yourself that you will spend some time every day being kind to others.

Giving kindness is its own reward. But it is also a great way to pass along the good that you have enjoyed. You will have more success in keeping this promise if you give yourself the task of "doing something kind" as a part of your daily to-do list.

It may seem artificial at first, but don't worry about that. After 19 or 20 repetitions, acting kindly will become instinctive and automatic.

5. Spend half an hour resting.

As you rest, think about someone you know or someone you have recently read about who is less fortunate than you are. Imagine how it would be to have that person's problems. Be grateful that you don't and, at the same time, make a wish that he finds relief.

Then think about all the things you are grateful for - your home, your family, the wealth you enjoy (not the wealth you don't yet have), the good food you will be eating, the wine you will be sipping, the games you will be playing, the jokes you will be laughing at, etc. Be specific in your thinking. Don't think "food," think "turkey breast and mashed potatoes with gravy."

6. Say grace before eating - even if, like me, you are not religious.

I usually say something simple, like "Let us be thankful that we have the health that we have, the wealth that we have, and the work that we choose." But you may prefer something cooler, like this gem from Eubie Blake:

"Be grateful for luck. Pay the thunder no mind. Listen to the birds. And don't hate nobody."

My wife had a copy of Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends & Influence People lying around on her desk for the longest time. I decided this weekend to pick it up and start reading it.

I found a wonderful extended quote on pages 16-17 that I thought I would publish here for comment:

Father Forgets by W. Livingston Larned

Listen, son: I am saying this as you lie asleep, one little paw crumpled under your cheek and the blond curls stickily wet on your damp forehead. I have stolen into your room alone. Just a few minutes ago, as I sat reading my paper in the library, a stifling wave of remorse swept over me. Guilty I came to your bedside.

There are things I was thinking, son: I had been cross to you. I scolded you as you were dressing for school because you gave your face merely a dab with a towel. I took you to task for not cleaning your shoes. I called out angrily when you threw some of your things on the floor.

At breakfast I found fault, too. You spilled things. You gulped down your food. You put your elbows on the table. You spread butter too thick on your bread. Of Casino Royale and Cars

This weekend I took some time off to work my other sideline business -- mystery shopping. Saturday I made $50 for 2 hours of work at the Argosy Casino in Alton, IL observing whether the 28 people I interacted with made eye contact, greeted me and gave me a parting comment.

And I made $10 plus reimbursement for 2 movie tickets, popcorn, soda and candy to observe the cleanliness and upselling ability of the staff at the local Wehrenberg Theatre.

We saw the new James Bond movie Casino Royale . But when we got out, it really made me stop and think back......

....As a child, I was always enamored with glitz, glamour, and most importantly the latest and greatest gadgetry money could buy. I used to dream that I worked as a lead scientist in a top secret laboratory that needed the highest clearance. I worked by myself as I couldn't have any helpers on what I worked on as it was so secret.

....time passed and the love of gadgets and technology has never departed from me. But my brain doesn't have the finite raw capability to memorize exact facts and figures that a mathemetician or scientist needs. So I went into computers.

I strove to be the very best ever since Junior High School when I was first introduced to the Apple II+ in 1982. I came in before school and stayed after school just to be with the machines! I used every program the Math teacher had and became quite proficient with it. And I had a great time, because the PC did my bidding exactly as I told it without complaining, whining, or any emotions whatsoever. I've never been much of a social butterfly, so the PC helped me become my own best friend.

In High School I became the President of the Lyons Township High School Computer Club. Back then we had those wonderful TRS-80 computers and air conditioning to boot! (Back then only the Library, computer lab, and Offices had A/C). But I could count the number of friends I had on less than 1 hand. I didn't even miss not going to the Jr. and Sr. Prom.

On I went to Eastern Illinois University to study what would become a B.A. degree in Psychology of all things because I had to pick a major if I wanted to graduate in 4 years, and I was doing best in my Pschology courses. I loved to read as well as study the Spanish language, so I minored in both Creative Writing and Spanish.

Little did I know that I would meet the love of my life, the ONLY woman I ever dated in my entire life and marry her just out of Graduation. She came from a small farming community in south central Illinois called Effingham. It was she and her family that slowly began to draw me out of my selfishness and introspection.

You see, while they were dirt poor and my family and upbringing upper middle class, they taught me one thing that money can NEVER buy -- unconditional love for people for just their being them!

You see, when I grew up, love was always conditional and expressed in varying degrees. My brother was a jock, so dad went to EVERY ONE of his Football games. But when I had the chance to sing the entire Messiah my Freshman year at EIU, Daddy couldn't come because "they don't travel that far in the winter -- it's too dangerous". They would pay for airplanes to fly me home, but hardly ever pick me up, or only when it was convenient.

My parents-in-law-to-be, on the other hand, ALWAYS helped out. They'd go out of their way to pick us up on campus and take us places. Simple things really, like picnics, walks in the park, and spur-of-the-moment road trips to the malls of Champaign-Urbana 45 miles away.

My wife-to-be and my parents-in-law taught me that the love of money only leaves a big, empty hole in your heart that even all the trappings James Bond had couldn't satsfy. They tought me how to love people unconditionally.

And tonight I watched the movie Cars with our two children Marissa (8) and Ross (4) in their bedroom along with my wife, it felt so good to have one child on each shoulder, snuggling down, going to sleep and to hear them say out of the blue several times during the evening "I love you daddy!"

So how does all this sappy stuff relate to Business and Mr. Joe Schroeder?

It's simple really.

This weekend and these movies help solidify the idea that PEOPLE MATTER! And as you make more and more money in this world, it is absolutely crucial that you don't forget where you came from and to help those in need!

In order to get, one truly does have to give and be generous.

I have a confession to make

Hello Everyone!

I have a confession to make.

Bernard Shaw once remarked "If you teach a man anything he will never learn"

We do inded learn by DOING. And that is my confession. I've been so caught up lately in the getting ready to get ready (making sure the back end stuff is in place and working like auto responders, post cards, stamps, etc.) and not really spending enough time DOING.

By DOING, I mean actually calling people and getting to know them! Remember with this system, the principle is FRIENDS FIRST! We are to get to know them and what they need before we even begin to "sell" anything.

Since the start I've been doing on average 5 calls per day. If I get a ring no answer or voicemail, I send them a postcard which leads them to opt into my lead capture page. This also triggers an email for me to send them my 16 page booklet. If I get them on the phone, I confirm the address and send them the booklet.

But I'm so nervous and scared on the phone sometimes I almost HOPE that they are not home so I don't have to talk to them! And that is definitely NOT the way to grow a business! So in the words of Dani Johnson, I need to just "get over it!" and smile and dial!

Better said than done, unfortunately.

Anyone have any good pointers?

This weekend we traveled some 500 miles round trip to be with my family as we witnessed the baptism of my brother's daughter Tessa Niccolette Pollina.

It's not always what you do, it is who you know.
INFLUENCE comes from INTIMACY
Winners follow THROUGH vs. follow UP
Serve others. Put your ego aside!

Consistency is the key

So what did you do today?

Each and every weekday I do the following:

1) Call 5 new leads from here
2) Send each contact an email letting them know a postcard is in the mail.
3) Actually mail my voicemails and ring no answers a postcard.
4) For those I reach live, I confirm the address and send my 16 page booklet available here
5) I then set a followup phone call for 1 week.

Once all that is done I then recall those I mailed last week, so on Mondays I call the postcards that went out Last Monday for example.

This may not sound like much, but two things I do are different:

1) I actually CALL those I email
2) I also send them a REAL post card.

Most people load up an autoresponder with 2,000+ purchased names and broadcast out, hoping for a 1-2% response rate to a page that sells them something directly.

WE are different!

We focus on getting to know the people we contact and giving them access to F.R.E.E. content along the way like MP3s, e-books and conference calls.

Remember it is much better to give first than to get.

I came across this on one of my ezines and thought I'd share it.

Within the United States of America lies a large industrial city that is the sight of one of the world's largest slave labor camps.

Located in and around the center of this city are community settlements where the slaves live.

Each morning the slaves move herd-like from their quarters into the slave labor camps.

Each one is at his or her station by 7:30 AM. Here they report to their master for the day's duties. And here they remain chained until 5:00 PM when they're released to go home.

The slaves have no choice as to how many hours they must labor. Sometimes they are required to work overtime until their master tells them they may leave and go home.

Each year the slaves are told when to take their vacations, for how long, and when they must return.

They have little choice as to how much money they earn as they are paid not what they are worth, but what the job is worth.

They are allowed very little time for lunch and coffee breaks during the labor hours.

The slaves will remain in their chains in great fear because the master can punish them with the "firing" or "layoff" whip.

It is said that even some of the older slaves who have been good and faithful have felt the sting of the whip.

Day by day, year-by-year, the slaves toil and grow older until the master decides it is time to release them to the retirement camps where they're forced to sit idle and wait for death.

It's a well-known fact that the old slaves who try to keep working are sometimes whipped with a "stop-their-pension"
whip.

I know these slave camps exist for I once was a slave.

But now I am a free man who lives among the slaves.

The reason I am free is because I am in business for myself as a Network Marketer.

Yes, I am truly free!

I arise in the morning called for by my schedule!

I decide my own hours!

I can even sleep in late while the slaves are at work!

I can vacation when, where, and for how long I please!

I'm free to take my coffee break and lunch when I decide!

And of course, I can decide my own paycheck because I am not a slave!

I can choose to work when and where I please and with whom I please!

I'm free to stay in the city for as long as I want, or to move on to greener pastures if I decide to!

I've seen many slaves sadly pack their belongings to leave their city in search of a new master, but it is always the same.

There is however, a ray of hope for the slave.

He or she can buy their own freedom.

The cost is not high, yet it seems high to those who do not have the courage to pay the price.

What is the price?

One must be willing to be their own master.

ONE MUST BE WILLING TO BE THEIR OWN MASTER!

What did you do this weekend?

So what did you do this weekend?

Me? Well it was a busy weekend indeed.

On Saturday I took the kids to the Libary where we checked out a few books, videos and also stopped to see an Affrican dance presentation. My daughter Marissa actually won the raffle and received a shaker ball called a shakaray.

I then went to do a mystery shop at the Argosy Casino in Alton, IL. I got paid $50 to spend 2 hours there collecting the name, time, and whether or not the worker I encountered made eye contact with me, greeted me, and gave a parting comment (28 interactions). Not bad for 2 hours of work!

Lastly, my daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful evening at our Church's Father/Daughter banquet! This was our 4th annual event, and every year it sells out!

On Sunday I spent the day with the family at Church.

My wife and I sing in the Church Choir at First Christian Church of Florissant and our kids are taught by the wonderful volunteer teachers. If you're ever in the Florissant, MO area and need a place to worship, come worship with us! We just opened up a brand new Worship Center that went from seating 400 people to over 1,200! It is absolutely AWESOME! Come check us out!

Are you on Ryze yet?

I am on several different communities on Ryze including MLM For Serious Networkers , Send Out Cards, Men Working from Home, and Heart of Parenting.

On Ryze you can meet all different types of people and learn quite a bit.

I just happened to post an idea on one of the boards and one lady ended up contacting me for more information! I called her yesterday (Sunday) and gave her a demonstration of Send Out Cards that evening. She liked it a lot but wants to see the quality of the card first. As I always do, I sent her a "thank you" card which should arrive mid week. We agreed to follow up next Sunday.

Cost to get this lead? Only my TIME.

My First Reply from the first batch of Blackman leads

I'm so excited!

Today I got my first reply from a lady based upon my bag-over-the-head postcard.

She's a mother of 3 (5,3,1) with a 4th on the way. She's a stay at home mom who has never done any work from home before. She has a PC but it is down right now and won't be repaired for about 3 weeks.

Recently I purchased 100 phone verified leads from Robert Blackman's MLM Mastermind for $100. He actually gives you 110 leads plus replaces any that have a bad email, address, or phone number at the end of the month.

Anyway, I loaded all 110 leads into the United States Post Office's postcard service here and it double checked the names and addresses for me, finding 3 duds. I had a double-sided postcard created for me, so I uploaded that, the leads, and it made 108 (1 to me!) postcards for a whopping $32.69 including postage ane everything! Is that amazing or what!

Thes take 24 to 48 hours to produce, so they should hit the mail by Saturday at the latest.

Pretty potent, huh? How many times do you hear things like:

Climb the corporate ladder no matter who gets hurt
You deserve a break today
Whatever makes YOU happy

But oftentimes self-made people climb the corporate ladder to the executive level and beyond only to find that once they get there, it was very lonely; they had no one to share their successes with because they STEPPED ON or OVER everyone as they climbed that ladder, and found it ultimately lead to NOWHERE.

Remember, in order to TRULY receive, you must freely give!

I'll admit it. I'm a perfectionist. And what's worse, I'm a quitter too. If I can't do it "right" the first time, then why even try? If I don't get instant gratification, I'm out of here.

I grew up in affluent Western Springs, Illinois (an all white, upper-middle class central West suburb of Chicago) where I had it drilled into me to NEVER get too excited or passionate about something that hasn't happened yet, because if it doesn't happen, then you will be disappointed. Just do your best and take what comes your way.

I've also been taught that the A#1 goal in life is to be "happy" no matter what that does to people around you.

I grew up hearing things such as these:

Wife giving you problems? Stay at work on purpose to avoid her or if she gets really bad, divorce her. Whaver makes you "happy"
Dating a girl that you can't commit to in marriage just yet? That's ok, just live with her, have her kid, so long as you're "happy"
Being overworked at the job but making over $100,000/year at the cost of never seeing your wife and kids? That's ok, so long as YOU are "happy"

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

EVERYTHING

We need to remember that in order to TRULY find fulfillment in life, we have to step out of our comfort zone and help others, putting them FIRST!

Then and only then can we find true contentment.

You don't have to get it right....you just have to get going!

I've been reading The Alpha Code by Joe Schroeder and came across this excellent quote on page 28:

In the business WE are in, at the end of the day, everyone is following you. Not whatever program you are pitching that month. At the end of the day, YOU are in the people business selling people BACK to everyone themselves. Not selling whatever else that you think you are selling.

Me? I sell leadership. I am a knowledge bank and as such, I sell tickets, literally, for people to sit and watch me as I teach OTHER people how to ATTRACT and lead others.

I have transcended all companies and ultimately it is me who people are joining, not whatever "program" I am using as a n excuse to incubate with everyone.

So what about you? Have you learned that it is NOT about what program-of-the-month you are pitching. SELL YOURSELF and it won't matter which MLM you are in!

Meet Joe Schroeder and the Quick Link System

As I was being trained on the Send Out Cards system, someone mentioned on our Yahoo! group the idea of social networking sites and suggested I sign up for a Ryze account. (see my Rize page at http://bpollina.ryze.com/go/bpollina) I joined Ryze in July and met several good friends there.

But one man who stands out is Chuck Bartok. He befriended me and took me under his wings. He also became my mentor and accountability partner. He showed the excellent Quick Link program a guy by the name of Joe Schroeder created (see http://BradPollina.com) and how by learning how to shower people with gifts, you can ultimately gain in the long run.

I joined the Quick Link sytem in October of 2006 and decided to make this blog a chronicle of my experience and successes and failures.

So over the next days and months, I will be blogging about everything that I do including the good, bad and ugly, so that others may learn and so that I have something for posterity for my two wonderful children years down the road!

THE BEGINNING

This is Brad Pollina offering you greetings from lovely Saint Louis, Missouri, home of the Gateway Arch and the World Champion Saint Louis Cardinals!

My wife Lori and I enjoy suburban living in the North Eastern section of Saint Louis along with our two children Marissa (8) and Ross (4).

I got started in Network Marketing in 1993 when our landlord introduced my wife and I to an opportunity we couldn't pass up. We were attending Graduate school at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Spring break was approaching, so we decided to hop a Greyhound bus and head for Idaho Falls, Idaho to tour the facility ourselves and see if this company was for real! And we've never looked back!

In 2006 I found a wonderful Social Network called Ryze where I met Chuck Bartok who has become not only an awesome friend, but also a wonderful mentor and accountability partner. He introduced me to an off-the-wall man by the name of Joe Schroeder who taught me a principle that I've seen before in the Bible but never fully understood until I met him -- you have to "give to get".
